Riding Sail

Driven by the wind, powered by the sun, steered by the wind. Sail now

“Hirta” is equipped with a twin riding sail.

This has proved very efficient in windy anchorages greatly reducing yawing and thus making the boat more secure at anchor

It hanks onto the topping lift, the foot is tied to the boom, it is raised on the main halyard and has a short pole to keep it open

It has even been flown as a running sail
