Instruments

Hirta has the instruments required for both sailing offshore and for inshore pilotage.

She has a Standard Horizon Explorer DSC VHF with an integral GPS. (2016) This radio is not on any network

She has a Vesper WatchMate XB-8000 AIS transponder. (2016) This unit both receives and sends AIS. The boat is very visible to any AIS equipped vessel. The Vesper is on the boat’s NMEA 2000 network as well as being hardwired to the Standard Horizon Chartplotter. It also puts out a WiFi signal which displays incoming AIS on tablets and phones

She has an Echomax active radar enhancer (2016) She gives a very strong return on other vessel’s radar, “Hirta” is very visible

She is has a B&G wind instrument and an Airmar depth, speed and water temperature transducer, all on the NMEA 2000 network and which connect to the B&G Triton 2 display in the cockpit (2020)

The power switches for the instruments are all on the main switchboard (2016)

The battery switch and windlass breaker are by the navigators seat (2016)

iPads and tablets can be powered from the USB sockets in the cockpit and by the nav table
